Eric Wendell is a bassist, writer, and arts administrator. He is the author of Experiencing Herbie Hancock: A Listener's Companion (Rowan & Littlefield, 2018), Patti Smith: America’s Punk Rock Rhapsodist (Rowan & Littlefield, 2014) and was a contributor to the encyclopedia Music in American Life: An Encyclopedia of the Songs, Styles, Stars, and Stories That Shaped Our Culture (Greenwood Publishing Group, 2014).

As a bassist, Eric currently performs with the Brooklyn-based funk/soul/rock band “Brandi And the Alexanders” whose music has been featured in television shows such as “P-Valley” and “So Help Me Todd”. From 2002-2010, Eric was a founding member of the Long-Island based rock band “Trashed On Fiction” and released several records including 2005’s Show Me/Show You, 2009’s words trails maps and 2010’s Simple Sun. Eric has performed at noted New York City venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Bowery Ballroom, Mercury Lounge and Le Poisson Rouge. Domestically, he has performed at Cannery Ballroom (Nashville, TN), The Hamilton (Washington, DC), Tryon Arts Center (Tryon, NC) and The Boot & Saddle (Philadelphia, PA) and has appeared at festivals such as South By Southwest, Americana Music Festival & Conference, The Ladybug Music Festival, Pleasantville Music Festival and Toonerville Music Festival.

As an arts administrator, Eric has held positions in the classical music and music technology sectors as well as being a sought-after speaker on music rights.

Eric lives in Brooklyn with his girlfriend Alex and their cats Luna and Bing. He is desperately trying to learn the piano.
